Dr Stapleton’s key area of interest is the relationship between the design, production, and experience of games from the viewpoints of a developer, researcher and player. He also maintains his interest in the application of games within education and industry.

Andrew has presented his work at national and international academic conferences, game studios, and has been a regularly invited speaker to various events.

Andrew holds a Doctor of Science Education (Sc.Ed.D) degree from Curtin University of Technology, an Honours Degree in Physics (B.Sc.(Hons)) and a Graduate Diploma of Humanities (Grad.Dip.Hum) in Media Studies from La Trobe University and a Graduate Diploma of Sciences Communication (Grad.Dip.Sci.Comm) from Central Queensland University.

Andrew has professional experience in the videogame, electronic entertainment and television industries within Australia and the United States, and has worked as an academic lecturer and researcher at a number of Universities. He also has extensive experience in the field of usability, designing and teaching undergraduate and postgraduate univsreity courses, as well as being employed as a Research Manager for a usability consultancy firm.

Dr Stapleton is currently a Sydney-based independent consultant with his own business PlaytoResearch (http://playtoresearch.com), and is working on projects in the game and usability areas. He also lectures at local universities and colleges including Raffles College of Design and Commerce (teaching game design and development as well as design research) and University of Technology Sydney (teaching about games ans simulations in education). Beyond his passion for games and research, he enjoys spending time with his family and the lifestyle of the Northern Beaches.
